I came up with a jet boat ride, well the oldest two were keen but the yongest didn't think it was his style. We purchased two tickets and the boys used their ticket last Sunday. Well we've had nothing but rain in Adelaide, but on Sunday the sun popped out and let us have a great family day out. Samantha my eldest's son's girlfriend decided to join them in the fun. Off they headed, from the shore it looked pretty awesome with the boat spinning and bouncing around out there. We go some good shot's and a good video clip but they were out a bit too far to get much. </div><div> </div><div>Well the 20 minute ride ended and in they came. The eldest with a bag looking a little worse for wear, perhaps partying the night before wasn't a good idea. When his stomach settled and he felt better we went for a stroll in the sunshine. The vote was pizza for lunch at Mamma Carmellas, yum!!!</div><div> </div><div>The boys and Sam decided to do some window shopping down the Mall at the Bay, so my husband and I ventured into the pokies. We put ten dollars in, got a free spin and won enough to cover what we spent on lunch, with enough over for a ice cream cone each. </div><div> </div><div>Well we had a great family day together, with something for everyone. Who could ask for anything more. Merry Christmas boys.</div></div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-55575124520144304432007-06-05T19:35:00.000-07:002007-06-05T23:25:59.998-07:00Tast Wheat ear stitch<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RmYd5nxymVI/AAAAAAAAAHo/puUGAD1tH0A/s1600-h/216+016.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072774906047011154" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RmYd5nxymVI/AAAAAAAAAHo/puUGAD1tH0A/s200/216+016.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Tast Wheat Ear Stitch</div><div></div><div>Yesterday while at the hospital waiting for my son to have a MRI (dislocated his knee at football last week) a dear sweet old lady came to see what I was stitching. As you can see in the first sampler the shed was horrific ,the bushes looked like it would work, and the grass was working. Tried again with sheer determination as satin stitch is one of the hardest stitches for me to get to lay straight especially on the edges. I tried some voiding in the trees to get a background look.<br />I don't know that I'll use sating stitch for the shed I think I can get a better look with split stitch for shading, we'll see where the design goes.</div><div><br /><br /></div><div>I have found a good tutorial for satin stitch at <a href="http://www.heritageshoppe.com/heritage/stitches/satinstitch2.html">http://www.heritageshoppe.com/heritage/stitches/satinstitch2.html</a></div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-22512889014858307422007-06-03T16:08:00.000-07:002007-06-03T16:13:10.354-07:00Tast Crossed Buttonhole StitchTast Crossed Buttonhole Stitch<br />Not my best week, a bit down in the dumps.<br />I can always add some more when I feel more inspired.<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RmNKgVHpFRI/AAAAAAAAAHA/E9EGs6pBZyA/s1600-h/34+006.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5071979524634776850" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RmNKgVHpFRI/AAAAAAAAAHA/E9EGs6pBZyA/s200/34+006.jpg" border="0" /></a>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-7816180066075064222007-05-31T17:56:00.000-07:002007-05-31T18:00:55.614-07:00If only I could find that cameraIf only I could find that camera. Well I found the camera seems my kids needed it more than I did. When I eventually found it's whereabouts it was naturally flat. When I found the charger for some reason in one of the boys bedroom there were only 3 batteries left. Again they must of needed it more than I did. In order to improve my skill I have decided to explore and practice the possibilites of beading. These are some samples I took time to practice this week. I first noticed the little flowers in a blog from Jo in NZ <a href="http://nzjo.blogspot.com/2006/08/paisley-how-to.html">http://nzjo.blogspot.com/2006/08/paisley-how-to.html</a> thanks Jo for the tutorial I have given them a try. I also found other variations in a book from the library called "beautiful Bead Embroidery" "Country Bumpkin Publications" they are much the same as Jo's examples just using different amount of beads or sequens. I'm glad I tried because now I realise the actual size and beauty of the little flowers.annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-49220419660015214982007-05-10T22:56:00.000-07:002007-05-10T23:07:50.596-07:00A Very Sad Story<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RkQF9G55o1I/AAAAAAAAAFo/L8g6Xa-0yO4/s1600-h/576+001.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5063178428454904658" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RkQF9G55o1I/AAAAAAAAAFo/L8g6Xa-0yO4/s200/576+001.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>A Very Sad Story.</div><div> </div><div>This poor little unloved petit point guy was sitting so lonely at the back on the bottom shelf of a bookcase in an op shop. As I was walking by I spotted him at first I thought it was a card in a frame. When I picked him up to take a closer look I realised he was done in petit point. How sad after all those hours of stitching that someone had put in an op shop. I paid five dollars for him, and brought him home. I often wonder who stitched him and why he was abandoned, anyway he has found a very safe and appreciative home. There was no glass on him when I bought him so I had non reflective glass put in, I would have introduced him to everyone sooner but I couldn't get a good enough picture of him until today. </div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-12403972560385636982007-05-10T22:28:00.000-07:002007-05-10T22:39:03.554-07:00Tast Basque stitch<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RkP_3m55o0I/AAAAAAAAAFg/iW3tmmfnUVE/s1600-h/56+002.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5063171736895857474" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RkP_3m55o0I/AAAAAAAAAFg/iW3tmmfnUVE/s200/56+002.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>TAST BASQUE STITCH</div><div>Trial sampler for basque stitch. First getting the stitch right, then trying a different size. Reversing and intermingling different size stitches for a patterned effect. Angling the stitches. Angled and whipped. Varying directions if reversed it could be grass or flowers. Basque stitch back to back on angle as you can see I had trouble starting the second row of stitches when reversing I didn't correct it as it will remind me next time. Following a curved line. Even reverse, and scallop pattern.</div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-23938107418542763282007-05-06T17:52:00.000-07:002007-05-06T18:02:18.843-07:00<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/Rj54z255ozI/AAAAAAAAAFY/iqiicgEsN-E/s1600-h/99+001.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5061615863518044978" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/Rj54z255ozI/AAAAAAAAAFY/iqiicgEsN-E/s200/99+001.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Tast woven wheel. My photo's aren't turning out real well don't know why may have to resort to reading the instructions for the camera, it's probably quicker to ask one of the kids though. Anyway it's here if I can get a better shot later I'll repost. I have used a pearl vareigated thread it bounced around a bit but I liked the effect. The blue is a flat vareigated thread which I treated myself to this week. The silver I tried is a filament thread, it's quite natty in real life but the phot doesn't show it up well at all.</div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-8507745892687971072007-04-29T16:35:00.002-07:002007-04-29T16:44:15.322-07:00Hand embroidery swap challenge<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RjUsVW55oyI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/-7-SrE4ymco/s1600-h/78+023.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5058998501857927970" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RjUsVW55oyI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/-7-SrE4ymco/s200/78+023.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>This is the first swap I have ever done. This little butterfly will be spreading it's wings and leaving for South Africa this afternoon. It is sewn on dupion silk. I have appliqued the light blue on the wings and body. Outlined in chain. Filled the wings with coral stitch and beads. The flowers in chain, stem and straight stitch. I couldn't get a great photo of it but the beads and appliqued sections glitter and pick up the light beautifully. Only hope she likes it. </div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683672633964282316.post-70249433894524438992007-04-29T16:28:00.000-07:002007-04-29T16:34:11.704-07:00TAST Running Stitch<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RjUqy255oxI/AAAAAAAAAFI/pLKpei3wAWs/s1600-h/78+021.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5058996809640813330" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6PtTJwegaDY/RjUqy255oxI/AAAAAAAAAFI/pLKpei3wAWs/s200/78+021.jpg" border="0" /></a> TAST Running Stitch<br /><br />Stitch Sampler<br />Fabric Calico<br />1. Found these droppings on the road this morning under our gum tree. No sign of life in the tree though we'll have to keep our eyes open to see if it's nocturnal activity. Koala or possum I wonder.<br /><div></div></div>annettebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08077125987349734244noreply@blogger.com0
